"A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits."

Carl Rogers

I am a licensed therapist dedicated to supporting children, teens, and young adults who may be struggling to feel like themselves and who are seeking meaningful personal growth. I view therapy as a collaborative process, grounded in trust, safety, and mutual respect. I believe that every individual already holds the inner strengths and skills needed to overcome adversity. My role is to help uncover and nurture those abilities, guiding clients toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being.

Children (4-12)

I believe that play is essential for healthy development and a powerful therapeutic modality. It gives children the opportunity to process difficult emotions, build self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and connect with their inner resilience. When a child feels truly seen, understood, and accepted, meaningful growth and healing can take place. My foundational modality is Child-Centered Play Therapy, which utilizes the child’s natural language of play. I integrate elements of Synergetic Play Therapy, Expressive Arts, Family Systems, Strengths-Based approaches, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based on each of my child’s unique needs. I specialize in working with children navigating a wide range of challenges, including stress and anxiety, executive functioning difficulties (such as ADHD and Autism Level 1), neurodivergent learners, identity development, grief and loss, regulating difficult emotions, low self-esteem, interpersonal struggles, and major life transitions like parental separation, divorce, or preparing for college.

Teens/Young Adults

My approach with teens and young adults is to provide a warm, safe space that encourages openness, honesty, and vulnerability. I believe Carl Roger's perspective on change, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Teens and young adults are able to do deep work and explore their inner thoughts and feelings when they feel seen and valued for their authentic selves.  I provide a collaborative, non-judgmental approach built on mutual respect and the belief that each person’s unique experiences and gifts can be utilized as assets for overcoming adversity. Therapy can look like talk therapy or can utilize expressive arts if the client is interested.

Parent Work

I believe that meaningful and lasting change in a child’s behavior begins with the relationship between the child and their caregivers. The greatest transformation often happens when parents are actively involved in the therapeutic process. My goal in parent work is to help caregivers understand the “why” behind their child’s behaviors, deepen their emotional connection, and develop tools rooted in co-regulation, empathy, and neuroscience. By supporting parents in building emotional awareness and confidence, we create a foundation for more secure attachment, improved behavior, and long-term emotional resilience in children.

Background

I have over 10 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and parents in a variety of settings including private practice, non-profit agencies, hospice care, autism research center, acute inpatient behavioral health hospital, and residential behavioral health hospital. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!).

Outside of Work

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, and daughter, going for walks with my yellow lab, playing tennis, and cheering on the UGA bulldogs!!

Synergetic Play Therapy

Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT) is a research-informed model of play therapy that blends traditional play therapy techniques with principles from neuroscience, attachment theory, and mindfulness. Developed by Lisa Dion, SPT focuses not just on the child’s behaviors or problems, but on the nervous system and relational dynamics between the therapist and the child.

The therapist uses authentic connection and co-regulation to help the child process emotional experiences and develop greater emotional regulation. Rather than interpreting play symbolically, the therapist joins the child in the play while tracking their own internal state and using it as a tool to model regulation. The core belief is that healing happens in relationship and through the safety of attuned presence.
