Mandy Garcia

Mandy is an Associate Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She has experience working with clients who have a wide range of challenges including anxiety and stress, transitions, ADHD, depression, and trauma. Mandy helps clients achieve a variety of needs and goals, such as: improving self-esteem, self-reflecting and reframing negative thoughts; developing coping skills, emotional recognition/regulation, and developing social skills.

 

Mandy's previous experience includes working in school counseling and mental health school-based services. She approaches therapy with a collection of theoretical perspectives including Art Therapy, Person-Centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused approaches in her practice. She is also trained in EMDR  (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). Mandy believes in providing a creative, welcoming, and safe environment for clients to explore and process their feelings and thoughts. Through art her clients can create a symbolic form of their feelings that are often difficult to express with words. Mandy looks forward to working with clients to achieve their social emotional goals.

Mandy received her Bachelor of Fine Art in Studio Art from New Mexico State University and her Master’s of Education, in Professional Counseling from the University of West Georgia. She enjoys creating her own art through ceramics and screen printing. She also enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time outdoors.
